Background and Experience

Jason is a seasoned educator and coach with over a decade of experience, most recently serving at Maury County Schools in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Throughout his career, he has taught various subjects, including Advanced Macroeconomics and Psychology, and coached sports teams to significant achievements, such as winning district championships and helping student-athletes earn college scholarships. His leadership and teaching consistently fostered academic and athletic excellence.

Before his career in education, Jason worked as a Management Consultant at IMPACT Management Systems, where he played a key role in expanding the company’s operations and providing strategic planning and management consulting. Additionally, he served as an Associate Pastor and Business Administrator, overseeing ministries and handling business operations. Jason holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry from Abilene Christian University. In 2023, Jason gained his Associate Professional in Human Resources® (APHR) certification in pursuit of a role in human resources, reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional growth and development.

Role at Valor

In his current role at Valor, Jason oversees comprehensive benefits management, ensuring the company offers competitive packages that enhance employee satisfaction. He leads recruitment efforts to attract and retain top talent aligned with Valor’s core values and objectives. Jason is instrumental in implementing performance management systems that evaluate and improve employee productivity. He also streamlines HR processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with legal and ethical standards while cultivating a positive organizational culture that fosters inclusivity and motivation. Additionally, Jason develops and executes training programs to equip employees with the skills and knowledge they need, coordinates onboarding processes for new hires to ensure smooth integration, and manages HR administration, including payroll, 401(k) administration, and PTO tracking. He has also developed initiatives to align Valor’s mission with both short- and long-term impacts, creating opportunities for employee growth and development.

As Valor’s champion of creating a healthy culture, Jason organizes monthly birthday and milestone celebrations, including wedding and baby showers, ensuring no special moment goes unnoticed. He launched a “Valor families” Slack channel to encourage personal connections and coordinated the Valor Olympic Games, a 2-week celebration with four offsite events. Jason also organizes themed events, such as for Valor’s 6th anniversary and Memorial Day celebration, featuring potlucks, catered lunches, and team-building activities. For big client wins, he often sets up Friday office happy hours and raffles.

Background and Experience

Hannah is an accomplished marketing professional with a diverse background spanning traditional and digital media. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Christian University, earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in both Psychology and Communications. Her career began at The Richards Group, where she worked on the Chick-fil-A account as a Brand Manager. In this role, she focused on out-of-home, TV, radio, and point-of-purchase in-store marketing collateral, gaining valuable experience in managing high-impact campaigns.

Hannah then transitioned to iProspect, a global digital marketing agency, where she honed her skills in digital marketing. She oversaw a team managing various channels including PPC, display, and paid social campaigns for brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Neiman Marcus. Seeking new challenges, Hannah moved to Cook Children’s as a marketing specialist, where she applied her expertise in a healthcare setting. During this time, she also served as an adjunct professor at TCU, teaching a marketing communications course at the Neeley School of Business. These diverse experiences have shaped her into a versatile marketer, leading her to her current role at Valor, where she has been since 2021.

Role at Valor

In her current role at Valor, Hannah oversees the creation and implementation of multi-channel marketing campaigns, ensuring consistent messaging across digital, print, and social media platforms. She plays a pivotal role in coordinating conferences and events that showcase Valor’s mineral management software and outsourcing services, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to align marketing strategies with broader company objectives. Hannah excels at establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, media, and external agencies, enhancing Valor’s public profile and strategic partnerships.

Hannah is also responsible for preparing and distributing press releases to communicate key company milestones, new hires, and other significant achievements to the media and public. Additionally, she designs and implements email marketing campaigns and automation to engage clients and update them on relevant information. Managing the company blog and content creation, Hannah ensures that Valor addresses topical insights to educate and engage various audiences. Her hands-on proficiency with social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, coupled with her expertise in content and presentation creation using PowerPoint and Canva, makes her an invaluable asset to the Valor team.

Tim’s professional journey spans various roles before he specialized in accounting. His career began with positions in historical research, private investigation, logistics, and human resources, reflecting his adaptability across multiple sectors. In 2015, Tim transitioned to the accounting field, joining a CPA firm that caters to a diverse clientele across various industries. He brings this extensive cross-industry experience to the Valor team as a former senior accountant at Optimum Healthcare Management, a nursing facility. Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Tarleton State University.

As a staff accountant at Valor, Tim plays a vital role in helping to maintain financial day-to-day operations within our accounting team. He is instrumental in conducting month-end close activities, ensuring accurate account reconciliations, and preparing monthly journal entries. His responsibilities also include generating monthly financial reports and providing support to the Chief Accounting Officer as needed.

Valor Employee Spotlight | Hillari Rawls

Welcome to our Valor Employee Spotlight series! In this edition, we’re thrilled to introduce Hillari Rawls, Accounting Manager. Hillari is a vital member of the Valor family and we can’t wait for you to learn more about her!

Background and Experience

Hillari began her academic journey at Abilene Christian University, later earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accountancy (M.P.Ac.) from Angelo State University, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA. While at Angelo State, Rawls distinguished herself as a scholar-athlete, playing basketball and earning the title of 2014 Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year. She achieved her certification as a public accountant (CPA) in 2017 and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Her professional career includes roles such as senior fund accountant and accounting manager at Varagon Capital Partners, a firm specializing in asset management lending for middle-market companies. She has also managed various accounting and analyst responsibilities at BNY Mellon, Oak Hill Advisors, and Whitley Penn. In addition to her professional pursuits, Rawls is committed to her community, participating in numerous charitable campaigns with the Red Shoe Society of Fort Worth.

In her role at Valor, Hillari is integral to the financial operations for various operator clients. She is responsible for processing accounts payable (A/P), joint interest billings (JIBs), and revenue on a monthly basis. Her attention to detail and comprehensive understanding of accountancy ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting the overall financial health and compliance of the operator clients she serves.

Background and Experience

Jason graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business & Economics. He went on to continue his education by completing the Executive Education Program – Petroleum Land Management from Texas Christian University. He possesses over two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry and holds two certifications – Certified Professional Landman (CPL) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). Prior to working at Valor, Jason worked at Happy State Bank as their Assistant Vice President/Trust Officer and JPMorgan Chase as their Executive Director/Regional Manager Mineral Asset Management. In his role at JPMorgan Chase, Jason acted as the primary mineral manager for their trust, agency and foundation accounts holding oil, gas, and minerals assets. Jason’s experience in mineral management for banks perfectly equipped him to work with Valor’s various bank and foundation clients.

In his role at Valor, Jason currently guides a mineral management team, aligning objectives with the organization’s strategy and ensuring optimized client deliverables. With his profound knowledge of land management, laws, regulations, contract negotiation, investments, data analysis and portfolio management, he has been hugely instrumental in helping Valor optimize their mineral management services and proprietary software, mineral.tech®. He is responsible for implementing stringent quality control measures in financial reporting and land management, ensuring compliance with both industry regulations and company policies. This role also involves leading process improvement initiatives that align with strategic objectives, aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, he is committed to the ongoing training and development of team members, continually enhancing their skills and knowledge to maintain high standards of performance.

Teresa boasts an impressive background with nearly two decades of industry experience, focusing on oil and gas revenue accounting. She embarked on her career journey by working for upstream operators, where she gained initial industry exposure. She furthered her experience in the industry when she joined an oil and gas company, expanding her skill set by learning to file severance taxes and perform reconciliations.

Her career trajectory eventually led her to a permanent role as a Revenue Accountant, a position where she demonstrated her proficiency in a wide range of software and tools. Teresa is skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as Dropbox and Google’s suite of services including Drive, File Stream, Sheets, and Email. Additionally, she has developed expertise in industry-specific accounting software such as Excalibur / Nexgen V6 & V8 and Artesia (AS400 system), along with other platforms.

Role at Valor

Teresa joined Valor’s team more than three years ago and has since become an instrumental part of the organization, particularly in supporting mineral management clients. She plays a huge role in the onboarding process for these clients, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition. Teresa is responsible for pulling all digital checks for Valor’s clients, and processing them to ensure they are ready for the mineral management accounting team to review and upload into mineral.tech® for client visibility. Teresa has learned and optimized Valor’s custom programs that help prepare files for the accounting team. She also plays a key role in ensuring that programs are correctly coded for revenue-related bookings, highlighting any discrepancies that stand out. Furthermore, Teresa is tasked with pulling all checks and accurately inputting checks and JIBs, showcasing her attention to detail.

Skye, a graduate of the University of North Texas, embarked on his career as a Landman shortly after graduating. From 2014 to 2020, he served as a Contract Landman, where he specialized in title work and embraced the responsibilities associated with land management. This foundational period was marked by a deep dive into the intricacies of land rights and research, laying a solid groundwork for his future endeavors. In 2020, Skye joined the Valor team as a Staff Landman, a role that allowed him to further hone his skills and expertise in the industry. Demonstrating remarkable dedication and ambition, Skye was promoted to Senior Landman in 2022. Through motivation and guidance from his leadership team at Valor, Skye pursued and achieved his Certified Professional Landman (CPL) designation in December 2023. This notable accomplishment underscored his commitment to professional development. Skye’s initiative to leverage Valor’s education and certification sponsorship opportunities played a crucial role in his successful completion of the credentialing process, as well as earning another promotion to Land Manager, marking a milestone in his career.

His strategic efforts in integrating and mapping tracks and units into mineral.tech® significantly enhances client engagement, review processes, and operational efficiency. By inputting and organizing lease details into a client-accessible portal, he plays a key role in facilitating well-informed decisions by clients. Valor Employee Spotlight | Will Allison

Welcome to our Valor Employee Spotlight series! In this edition, we’re thrilled to introduce Will Allison, JD, Senior Land Manager. Will is a vital member of the Valor family and we can’t wait for you to learn more about him!

Background and Experience

A native of Fort Worth, Will Allison received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from TCU, then earned his Juris Doctorate from the Texas A&M School of Law – where he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society. Prior to joining Valor, Will served as a vice president for JPMorgan Chase Bank’s Domestic Trust Services, which provides operational support for the fiduciary management of specialty assets, including mineral and real estate holdings. During this time, Will had a heavy concentration and focus on software-related analytics and oversight, making him a perfect fit for Valor’s specialty asset management business model. Will began his multi-decade career in the oil and gas industry as a senior client account manager for Holland Services, where he managed large-scale acquisition and investment due diligence, leasing, GIS mapping, and land-related research, most of which occurred in the energy-rich Permian Basin of West Texas. Will is a member in good standing of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and the Fort Worth Association of Professional Landmen (FWAPL).

Role at Valor

At Valor, Will plays a pivotal role in both maintaining and nurturing the company’s existing client relationships and overseeing the onboarding of new clients. He works with both Valor’s mineral management and oil and gas operator clients. His responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring client satisfaction and operational excellence. He frequently communicates with current clients, addressing their questions, resolving any issues that arise, and identifying potential opportunities to enhance their assets. Will also supervises the comprehensive onboarding process for new clients, guaranteeing that their onboarding and/or transition to Valor is both smooth and efficient. Additionally, he conducts detailed assessments of client mineral.tech®  portals to ensure the uniformity, consistency, and accuracy of ownership information, maintaining the integrity of client data. Will is also tasked with creating monthly reports for clients, providing them with valuable insights and updates on their mineral assets. Furthermore, he collaborates with third parties on behalf of clients, acting as a liaison to facilitate any external processes or services required. Through his diverse range of duties, Will plays an essential role in strengthening client relationships and reinforcing Valor’s commitment to high-quality service.
